Less than one month to go peeps! The story will come to and end this December and this week really has been "Here have some new photos and tv spots for TROS" my twitter timeline has been blowing up every evening and as the hardcore fan I am, well let's put it nicely. I am very excited about this.
(I am the first to argue about the problematic aspects of Disney/Lucasfilm ltd but this post is going to be a positive one)
I will forever hold a grudge against my parents for never introducing me to the Star Wars films. When I say that those two are the only people their age who have not seen Star Wars I genuinely don't think it's a joke. They haven't! And because of it they never introduced me to it. I had to find my own way on the vast space of the internet at the old age of 17 before I could fully call myself a fan. I am now 23, it took me a while that's for sure. But here I am, old and excited about a galaxy far far away. I'm not saying that people have to be fans of Star Wars but something with this universe has always spoken to me and when I have my own kids I am making sure I force them to sit through all the movies at least once so they can go into adult life at least being able to say that they've seen the films. These movies, well there really is a generation for all within them. Whether you are my parents age (50+) the 70s-80s movies belong to some, then the 90s-2000s with the prequels and then 2015-2019 for some. They are all golden in their own way (arguable the prequels are an acquired taste) but I am constantly reminded by the fact that so many young kids are going to grow up with Rey being a female Jedi, Finn being a black rebel hero and Poe Dameron being a latino hotshot pilot. It's representation that will follow a new generation into the future and it makes me smile every time!
Here are some things I am hoping for when it comes to the movie:
-Finn, Poe and Rey (the trio) have lots of scenes and lots of fun together. It's been lacking in all the previous movies that's for sure.
-A big space battle. I feel like this is the one to do it in. I'm not the biggest and best fan especially when it comes to knowledge but I am pretty sure that there hasn't been one in any of them movie and I would really like to see that!
-(Poe confirmed as queer, this will never happen but a woman can dream)
-Discover more of Finn's past. It's one of the aspects of Finn's arc that's so far been left untouched, I think this would be really cool to see and for us all to know more about.
-Rey growing stronger with the force and once and for all defeat Kylo Ren
-Leia!!
My tickets are already booked for 18th of December. A woman is going out of her mind of excitement! I really cannot wait. While we're all waiting why not take a look at the trailer and feel the shivers make their way down your back because of the music (it sure makes me tear up).
